Riccardo Antoniazzi violins
Riccardo Antoniazzi was born in Cremona and was the son and pupil of Gaetano Antoniazzi, one of the last late Cremonese makers. Riccardo was known as a strong maker in his family and went on to work as a luthier in both Milan and Nice. He taught and worked with Leandro Bisiach and the firm of Monzino & Son and aside from creating his own work, is also remembered for training the new generation of Milanese makers.
Riccardo Antoniazzi’s violins varied in style at different points in his career. He was not afraid to experiment with style, models and varnish and during his later years, his instruments were of a particularly high quality. These models are now recognised as some of his finest and most prolific work.
At Bishop Instruments & Bows, we aim to source the finest examples of old Italian violins and often have instruments by the Antoniazzi family, including Riccardo Antoniazzi violins.
