Cesare Candi Violins

Born in Bologna, Italy, Cesare Candi was a talented luthier and is remembered as one of the most important Genoese violin makers of his time. He moved to Genoa around 1888, where he mastered his technique and started his own business some years later. As well as violins, he also created other stringed instruments including guitars, lutes and mandolins. He was awarded with distinguished prizes throughout his career, at exhibitions in Milan, Bologna and Cremona.

Candi’s making technique shows fine examples of craftsmanship, with unique and recognisable characteristics. He experimented with various methods and many of his instruments are held in high esteem for their great aesthetic and sound qualities.

Bishop Instruments & Bows have a large collection of fine stringed instruments by both old master’s and modern makers. We regularly stock Cesare Candi violins in our showroom. To see what we currently have available, browse the instruments below. As our full collection of instruments are not always displayed online, we also recommend that you get in touch or make an appointment at our London showroom to view our instruments in person.
