A violin by Cesare Candi, Genova 1919

Price range: £50,000+

Cesare Candi, b1869 d1947. Born in Bologna but working as a violin maker in Genoa, Candi can be seen as an extremely fine maker from this city and indeed he was appointed in 1915 as curator of Paganini’s 1743 Del Gesu ‘Cannone” violin. As well as violins Candi made Guitars, lutes and mandolins, many with extremely decorated parts.

This violin is a fine example, covered in beautiful reddish varnish.

“I always love Candi violins and this is no exception. A great example from his best period”  Sean Bishop -Director.
