Guy Harrison began working in the violin trade at the age of 13 in Australia. He studied for three years at the Newark School of Violin Making in England. After graduating with the highest level of distinction he was employed in Europe and further trained in the restoration of fine instruments.
After crafting instruments in Europe, he moved to Canada to open his own studio. In recent years, he has taken part in the world-renowned Oberlin College violin making workshops. (https://www.oberlinviolinmakers.org) The workshops allow professional makers to share ideas and work side by side with a spirit of excellence to advance the craft of producing new concert instruments.
Since 1997 he has competed and won several awards and medals in International Violinmaking Competitions, both in Germany and the United States. Guy Harrison is a member of the American Federation of Violin & Bow Makers, of which there are 11 members in Canada.
Sean Bishop “It’s easy to see why Harrison wins medals at Making comps! This Guarneri del Gesu copy is just so nice”
