A violin by Giovanni Battista Gaibisso, 1933
Price range: £50,000+
Giovanni Battista Gaibisso (1876-1962) seems to be quite a rare maker whom obviously had some connection to the great Cesare Candi and the makers of this time in Genoa. His work is first class and meticulous.
This particular violin is clearly modelled on the Il Cannone , Paganini’s violin that resides in Genoa.
In mint condition it is featured in Dmitry Gindin’s book (wrongly as 1911) and comes with both Gindin and Blot certificates.
