Eugène Sartory (1871–1946) is widely regarded as one of the greatest bow makers in history. Born in Mirecourt, France—the historic center of French lutherie—Sartory trained under masters such as Charles Peccatte and later worked in Paris. By the early 20th century, he had established his own workshop and developed a model that would become the gold standard for modern bows.
