A violin bow by Jean Pascal Nehr, silver mounted
In 1974, Jean Pascal Nehr launched his bow making lifework at the school of Mirecourt with the master bow maker Bernard Ouchard. He graduated in 1977 and then opened his own workshop in Paris where, alongside bow repair and restoration work, he created his own bows inspired by the genius FN Voirin. From 1986 to 1990, Nehr was archetier in the workshop of CL Hommel in Marseille. After his tenure in Marseille, Nehr set up a new workshop in his Paris home and has devoted himself to making bows based upon innovative early 19th century French school, in particular emulating the work of FX Tourte. Nehr bows are globally treasured and highly sought after by perceptive violinists and collectors for their beauty and extraordinary playing qualities.
Sean Bishop “Jean Pascal Nehr is one of my favourite bow makers. For anyone wanting a new bow that gives your tonal colours…he is one of the only few living makers that seems to be able to achieve this”
