A violin by Paolo De Barbieri, Genoa 1927

Paolo De Barbieri was a pupil of Cesare Candi and began working from 1918; he started his own atelier in 1938. He generally did copies of Stradivari and Guarneri. De Barbieri won the gold medal in Barcelona 1929 and a silver medal in Cremona 1949. His instruments are of fine workmanship.

“Barbieri has always been a maker that I look out for, and almost sometimes they have high arching- this one is the perfect model. It even has it’s original pegs!”
