A violin by Honorè Derazey, Paris c1860

1794-1883, Mirecourt, France. Honore Derazey learnt violinmaking in Mirecourt and subsequently worked for various ateliers in Paris including J.B. Vuillaume. He quickly became successful, having gained awards from the Paris exhibitions of 1839, 1849, 1855, 1851. Many of Derazey’s instruments were sold through Vuillaume with his labels in them and his work was also quite Vuillaume orientated.

‘We are lucky to have two very fine examples of Derazey’s best work, both previously owned by top London musicians. Both in excellent condition.’ – Sean Bishop
