Giuseppe Sgarbi 1818 -d1905
Sgarbi can be considered one of the last of the truly 19th Century makers before the influx of “Modern” Italian making . Very classical in design, the varnish he used is extremely fine and his workmanship is also very neat.
This viola is a fine example in excellent condition, 40.7cm (16″), Blot certificate.
“This is the second Sgarbi we have had over the last few years…he’s a maker I really love. Very fine quality of sound” Sean Bishop – Director

Sgarbi for me is the last of the great 19th Century Italian makers. This is not a modern Italian! Plays and sounds like silk.
