An Italian violin, probably by Domenico Corbucci circa 1870/80

Price range: £25,000 - £50,000

This is a really fine Italian violin. Excellent condition and the property of a London concertmaster/chamber musician. He has performed extensively on it including multiple recordings. I cannot be certain that Corbucci made this violin, so it’s extremely reasonable in price.

Highly recommended.

MAKER INFORMATION

Corbucci initially trained as a violinist and his passion for violin making probably grew out of his musical studies. It’s believed that he was self-taught as a maker, and a brilliant one. Together with his brothers Gottifredo and Filottete, he volunteered in the first Italian War of Independence. His violins are rare and this example is regarded as most  probably made by him.
