A violin by Amedeo Simonazzi, c1920
Price range: £50,000+
Amedeo Simonazzi was born 1891 and died 1974. He is believed to have shown his work/lessons? worked with? Stefano Scarampella in Mantua as told by his son. His work is probably more technical than the master but less freedom! You often see this in people coping Guarneri….having to rein in their own personality!
This violin is labelled Marconcini, although to my eyes, it shares nothing with this maker! But Italy was a difficult place to sell a violin after WW1 so many makers put in wrong labels. The Simonazzi Scarampella copies are much more close to the real thing!
This is a mint example with an Eric Blot certificate.
Sounds great.
