Ferdinando Gagliano violin

Ferdinando Gagliano belonged to the famous lineage of Gagliano luthiers. Son of Nicolò Gagliano, he continued his family’s tradition of violin making, although it is thought that he was actually a pupil of his uncle, Gennaro. Gennaro too was one of the finest craftsmen in Naples and much of Ferdinando’s work showed similarities with his style of making. Whilst collaboration was often seen in the Gagliano family, Ferdinando made many of his instruments independently. Despite this, parts of his work did show clear Gagliano principles. Ferdinando’s work is widely recognised as having quality craftsmanship and his contribution is well respected by many.

We regularly have a wide range of instruments in stock by luthiers in the Gagliano family, including pieces by Nicolo Gagliano, Joseph (Giuseppe) Gagliano and of course, Ferdinando Gagliano. You can view our range of instruments below or make an appointment to visit them in person at our London shop.
