A violin bow by Jules Fetique

Jules Fetique is a highly distinguished archetier, born into a family of French bow makers. He began learning his craft during an apprenticeship with Emile Miquel and Charles Nicolas Bazin before moving to Paris to work in the highly-regarded workshop of Eugene Sartory.

Jules Fetique’s style was strongly influenced by Sartory, some of his best work rivalling the consistently high-quality and exceptional standard of Sartory bows. In 1934, Fetique left to start his own workshop, where his style adapted slightly, taking influence from Dominique Peccatte.

Jules Fetique is remembered as one of the finest and most influential bow makers in Paris in the 20th century. His bows are renowned for their powerful playing qualities and remarkable consistency, making them widely popular amongst players today.

This example was made in 1918 for the Caressa & Francais firm. Really beautiful dark pernambucco this bow is equal to any Sartory and dare we say it’s a lot cheaper too!

Weight a perfect 60 grams with a recent Raffin certificate.
